Hello Brian, the problem is common in laptop using. It is about the LVDS cable, a bad lvds cable will lead to many poor connecting problem, such as splash screen, blurred screen, chromatic aberration and other poor connecting problem. So a high-quality LVDS cable is necessary in your laptop. A high-quality should have a shielded parts that can provent the connecting wire from obstructing from other signals.
Its easy but be sure the set is unplugged. The LVDS has little tabs that are on each side of the metal connection when you press in on the tabs the lvds cable slides right out of the Tcon and the other end does the same on the main board. To plug it back in press in the side tabs and then slide it squarely into the socket on the TCon and then release the pins when the connection is all the way in.
