My digital tv recorder is 1 year and 2 months old. It is recording and playing back some things fine but others on play back are way out of sink the play back seems to speed up but the sound carries on normally. sometimes stoping and starting the program relines it but only temperarily. the other thing it does is that while playing the faulty program the recorder freezes and you cant stop it without disconnecting it. i have reformatted it but that hasnt solved the problem. its a LPVR168 digital

Sounds to me like has Video Ram. This is a typical, thing that happens in DVR's if the Video memory, is bad, or, bad power to the memory, can also cause it too. This is why the Video is bad, and Audio is OK, and why the Video, image "Freezes" and Audio, "Carries On" (sic). I don't know if the Vram can be replaced, you would have to take it back to a manufacturers repair agent, and get a "Quote" for repair. At least, that way, you can make an informed decision, as to repair or replace.
